Rock climbing in Isère, around Grenoble

Limestone cliff overlooking the valley near Grenoble, in Isère

Capital of the Alps and a climbers' paradise, Grenoble is ringed by limestone cliffs nestled in the foothills of the Vercors and the Chartreuse. You can climb here almost all year, making the most of south-facing walls from the first rays of winter.

Comboire is a Grenoble classic: a sunny cliff, ideal in winter, just a stone's throw from the city. The Coup de Sabre offers more confidential climbing in a typically Isère setting.

The region's limestone offers varied styles, from crimpy walls to pocketed overhangs. The approaches, often short, leave time to link pitches, and the southern exposure lets you climb even in the heart of winter.

Up on the heights, Lans-en-Vercors and Roche Brune open climbing toward the more mountainous atmospheres of the Vercors. Find all the topos in the OneTopo app.
