Connelles
Connelles is the pioneers' sector, the birthplace of climbing in Normandy, where many big names in climbing came to learn their craft! The "Voie Normale" route in the Tour sector, for example, was opened in 1952 by climbers from the CAF (French Alpine Club)! The sector mainly offers routes ranging from 4b to 6c (note that the ratings are a bit old school!) and are mostly west-facing. The cliffs of Connelles are classified as adventure terrain and caution is advised for climbers. Our ethical guide is provided by the Eure FFME Territorial Committee in collaboration with Pascal Bocianowski, chief route setter for the cliffs along the Seine.
