A renovated former quarry
The Saint Maximin climbing sector, located in Oise, is a historic site that has been able to transform itself to become an essential place for climbers of all levels. Once known for its stone quarries that contributed to the construction of Paris, Saint Maximin has seen its walls formerly exploited for construction, reconverted into a vertical playground for climbing enthusiasts. The quarries, now abandoned, today offer a unique and authentic setting, where each route tells a story of transformation and rediscovery, a true heritage of the industrial history of northern France.
The cliff is managed by the Town Hall of Saint-Maximin and the association Sud Oise Escalade, which also equipped more than 150 routes. The site is particularly well maintained, very clean and offers solid and very good quality equipment. In order to preserve it, it is appropriate to respect the usual rules of propriety: do not leave waste behind, do not smoke or make fires, do not play music and respect the safety rules relating to outdoor climbing practice!
Rock Style and Climbing
